an english summer sunday

Can a Sunday be more English than this, you proclaimed...

Sprinting through a proper English country lane with the roof down... although it was quite hot and bright with the sunshine directly upon you...

Visiting a quaint, if not totally queer, farm shop/team room for a perfect English afternoon tea, only it really was a morning tea...

Admiring English roses in a pretty garden, even if you only see them blurry here...

Taking a walk on the fresh bright lawn... or more precisely, rolling over it...

Picnicing on the hill overlooking the typical English countryside view... even if we only simply bought rather simple muffin and hotdog in reality...

And watching a cricket match; no, really, we really did watch the game, albeit for ten minutes or so!

It was my first time actually watching a cricket match, as opposed to only briefly seeing footage of one on TV or through the car window while passing by a contryside ground. I can never tell how intensive a cricket game could be, but it was quite a relaxing, almost soothing experience just sitting there watching them play, with a half-pint jug of shandy in my hand. It indeed was a perfect Sunday.

And the perfect Sunday was complete with our impromptu appearance at a backyard barbecue party to enjoy a long English summer evening, and even an abrupt power cut at my friends' where I was staying, that lasted for a few hours, long enough to panic me as I had stuff to do and send by email that evening. All sorted themselves out alright in the end, but well, even that sort of the unexpected was part of being here... how English the day was, indeed.

I miss the fabulous sun. It's too cold where I am. All in good time, the sky here will turn just a blue as the ones in your pictures.
Looking forward to more posts, food & photographs.
